The Greensboro Coliseum is a multi-purpose arena in Greensboro, North Carolina. Greensboro is the third largest city in North Carolina and is located in the heart of the state, just north of Raleigh. The Greensboro Coliseum was built in 1959 and is home to the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League. The Coliseum has a capacity of 23,500 and is the largest arena in North Carolina. The Greensboro Coliseum is also host to a variety of events such as concerts, conventions, and sporting events.


History


Since its grand opening for a “Holiday on Ice” show on October 29, 1959, the Greensboro Coliseum Complex has evolved into one of the most unique sports, entertainment and convention facilities in the country.


The Greensboro Coliseum Complex is a sports and entertainment venue in Greensboro, North Carolina. The complex opened in 1959 with the construction of the Greensboro Coliseum, a 12,000-seat arena that is still in use today. In 1961, the complex was expanded with the addition of the Greensboro Municipal Auditorium, which has since been demolished. In 1974, the complex underwent another expansion with the construction of the Greensboro War Memorial Auditorium, which was later renamed the Greensboro Special Events Center. The complex has also hosted a number of other facilities over the years, including an amphitheater, a convention center, and a museum. In recent years, the complex has undergone extensive renovations, including the addition of a new hotel and convention center. The Greensboro Coliseum Complex is now one of the largest and most popular sports and entertainment venues in the southern United States.

Greensboro Coliseum Features


Greensboro Coliseum is a multi-purpose arena in Greensboro, North Carolina. The coliseum hosts numerous sporting events and concerts, and is the home of the Greensboro Swarm, UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team, Carolina Cobras and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with their Men's and Women's basketball tournaments.. The venue also includes 37 concession stands, luxury suites, club seats, and onsite parking for 6,500 vehicles. Greensboro Coliseum also features state-of-the-art LED infinity video scoreboards and ribbon boards by Daktronics.
